RESPONDING TO OUR FRIENDS

C. & P. S.

Some American teens & school children who are curious about life here in Indonesia have been asking us questions via email. We thought we would respond to these questions on our blog.

Our seventh response is to Joey Murphy:

Joey, we remember that you are an avid hunter. I still remember you talking about the weight and grains of a bullet, and the deer you were hunting. I heard that because the Sumatran Tiger population is very low, the number of wild pigs has escalated. When there is an unbalanced situation like this, conservationists understand that for the health of the animals actions need to be taken to reduce the numbers in a given area. That has been done regularly in the United States, and because of that the herds are healthy.

Maybe you will be able to come to Jambi sometime in the future and hunt wild pigs! I’ll be looking into that and will keep you updated on the opportunities. Oh… and don’t worry about bringing a gun. A spear or machete,  (or bow and arrow) will be provided for you (LITERALLY).

Read this link to understand more about why hunting is beneficial for the health of the animal populations.
