No, we don’t live in a thatched roof hut. Actually, those homes are becoming rare. Even the most primitive of homes now have corrugated steel or tile roofs. There are a few thatched roofs out there, but they are becoming a thing of the past.

So if you’ve been afraid that you would have to live in a grass hut if you worked in another country, check out the below video we made of the home we lived in from Nov. 10, 2009 till Sept. 22, 2010. This was located in the city of Bandung on the island of Java. The home had its problems (roof leaks; mold; roaches; ants; drain smells; poor water pressure, lots of street noise, etc.), but it was livable. The home was located in the LIPI housing complex.
