Taman Tugu Jam (Monas–in the City of Jambi)

TAMAN TUGU JAM

The picture here is a monument that commemorates Indonesia’s struggle for independence. It is located in the City of Jambi, in the area known as “Kota Baru.” The precise location of this monument can be found with this link.

The official sign at this monument says it’s name is “Taman Tugu Jam.” Translated literally:
1. Taman: park
2. Tugu: post, monument
3. Jam: hour (because originally there were clocks on each of the 4 sides of the monument)

At the base of the monument are four geese/swans that are symbolic of Jambi’s legendary origin.
